Cancer Progress Measures
This area of research involves the development of new analytic approaches for the estimation of the three major population-based cancer progress measures (incidence, survival, and mortality) as well as related cancer statistics.
Examples of past and ongoing projects include the development of methods for estimating:
- the lifetime and age-conditional risks of developing cancer;
- cancer prevalence;
- adjustments in cancer incidence rates to account for reporting delays;
- mortality rates partitioned by factors associated with the diagnosis of cancer (e.g., stage of disease);
- relative and cause-specific survival in the absence and presence of other causes of death.
